Charles W. Stockey Centre &
Bobby Orr Hall of Fame
Situated on the shores of Georgian Bay, this Arts / Entertainment center is
only 12 minutes from Kellerman's Resort.
Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts and the Bobby Orr Hall
of Fame are in the heart of Parry Sound’s waterfront district. Home to
the international summer music festival and the Bobby Orr sports Hall of
fame, the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts sits on a
1.5 ha (3.5 acres) site.
Official opened in July 2003, the 12.4 million, 27,000 ft square Stockey
Centre houses a 480 seat acoustically sound Festival Performance Hall to
serve as the new home of the world-renowned chamber music festival, an
interactive sports centre and a hockey museum celebrating many Northern
Ontario sports heroes.
The hockey museum, featuring Bobby Orr, a native of Parry Sound. The
Orr's have handed over a large assortment of memorabilia for display in
the new facility. The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame also celebrates the
achievements of these athletes using the latest, interactive
technologies.
Bobby Orr
Bobby Orr played 12 NHL seasons before knee injuries forced him to
retire.
He totalled 27goals and 645 assists for 915 points in 657 games with
Boston and Chicago, winning Stanley Cups and the Conn Smythe Trophy with
the Bruins in 1970 and 1972.
Equally impressive is the fact Orr never recorded a negative plus-minus
rating during his entire career.
Orr proved so dominant defensively, he was named the Norris Trophy
winner in eight straight seasons, from 1967-1975.
A nine-time all-star, he was three-time winner of the Hart Trophy
(1969-1972), a two-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy (1970, 1975) and
recipient of the Calder Trophy (1967).
Orr was equally spectacular in junior hockey, amassing 107 goals and 280
points in 193 games for the OHL Oshawa Generals.

Parry Sound Golf
Course
15 minutes away
With a 133 rating from the blues, 132 from the whites and 119 from the
reds, the course is thought to be one of the most challenging 6000 yard,
par 71's in Canada. Architect Thomas McBoom carved this magnificent
course utilizing the sloping hills and various outcrops of Canadian
Shield terrain to full potential.
The Ridge at
Manitou
20 minutes away
East of Parry Sound the award-winning Ridge at Manitou is considered a
golfing sanctuary, surrounded by acres of unspoiled nature and
Manitouwabing Lake, near Parry Sound. It is framed by rock outcroppings,
and playing through forest and meadowland, it offers a unique experience
on every hole. The Ridge at Manitou provides an enjoyable round for
players of all abilities.
Spectacular scenery in the heart of the Canadian shield. The undulating
fairways were in pristine shape. The slope ratings are high and the
greens can be treacherous. The layout is kind to the average golfer with
large landing areas but seldom are the greens on the same plane.
Officially opened in July 2005 (and voted best new course in Canada for
2006 by Golf Digest), the forest-lined holes at the Ridge are typically
wide off the tee, then narrow as they bend past chunks of granite toward
elevated greens. The best hole is the last, a 503-yard par five that
doglegs left downhill, across a creek that slashes the length of the
fairway. As you turn the corner, the hole opens up to a vista of water
and trees, with the green teetering on the edge of the lake.
Diamond in the
Ruff
55 minutes away
This 9 hole jewel is "A Thoughtfully Crafted Golf Experience" located in
the heart of Muskoka, just 25 minutes from Bracebridge, Huntsville and
Port Carling.
Included by the Toronto Star as one of "Muskoka's Group of Seven
Picture-Perfect Courses", this gem could be the highlight of any
vacation while passing through Muskoka. Architecturally designed with
bentgrass tees, greens and fairways and featuring extraordinary gardens,
this course is as visually impressive as it is challenging.
